The Huffington Yaolhoost? AOL and Yahoo Discussing Merger Deal

Posted on September 9, 2011

Bloomberg is reporting that AOL and Yahoo are in talks for a possible merger following Yahoo's firing for its CEO Carol Bartz. This is not the first time there have been AOL-Yahoo rumors.

The combination makes sense in some ways because both companies are heavily invested in content. AOL has a large investment in blogs, with the Huffington Post, TechCrunch and the Weblogs, Inc. network. Yahoo also owns Associated Content and also has blogs and other media assets. Both companies also have tech components. AOL has its mail and AIM services, while Yahoo is known for its search engine.

CNBC has put the merger in doubt with a tweet that says, "Source Close To Yahoo Says No Interest In A Deal With AOL @Yahoo @AOL."

It is still fun to speculate as to what the combined name would be for the new company. Gizmodo throws out a few possibilities - such as Aolhoo or Yaolhoo. How about the Huffington Yaolhoost?
