Ziff-Davis Renames the Cobb Group ZD Journals

Posted on July 31, 1998

Ziff Davis announced that ZD Journals is the new name for the division formerly known as The Cobb Group. In April of this year, ZD Journals relocated from Louisville, Kentucky to Rochester, NY, the headquarters of ZD Education. This change reflects the brand marketing integration efforts of Ziff-Davis and offers ZD Journals the opportunity to leverage some of the other ZD Education resources already at the Rochester headquarters.

"We are excited about formalizing our integration with the Ziff-Davis organization as a whole," says Jerry Weissberg, Executive Vice President and General Manager for ZD Journals. "The name change and relocation effort enable us to share resources with ZD Education who is also in the publishing business. We will be better equipped, using some of the latest technology, and we will share expertise and costs, to ultimately better service our customers."

The Cobb Group, established in 1984, was known for its software support books that evolved into a leading publisher of a comprehensive line of software-specific journals. Acquired by Ziff-Davis in 1991, The Cobb Group continued to operate under that name.
