What Happens To Your Blog When You're Dead?

Posted on June 3, 2005

If you die what will happen to your blog? Will your account just sit there inactive or does someone else have your password that can access it? If you have a public blog written under your own name you probably already have made the blog public. But what if you have a passworded journal or you write under a pseudonym? A similar question was raised recently about what happens to your email when you die. An article in the Mercury News about the inheritance of digital data says that some online companies will give emails to a legal beneficiary or the estate representative after receiving documentation. Other companies will simply terminate an account if the user is deceased and will not turn over any information without a court order. What policy does your blog host have regarding your blog and your blog's content?
