Media General Acquires Advergaming Company

Media General, Inc. has announced that it has acquired Blockdot, Inc., a Dallas-based advergaming and game development firm. Blockdot was founded in 2001 and publishes advergames. Blackdot says advergaming is the use of interactive games to deliver advertising messages to develop brand awareness and drive traffic to consumer-oriented websites. Blockdot also operates a network of casual game sites, including its flagship site, Kewlbox.com. Media General is a diversified communications company operating leading newspapers, television stations and online enterprises, primarily in the Southeastern United States.
