FoxFaith to Make Twelve Family-Friendly Films a Year
Posted on September 20, 2006
Twentieth Century Fox plans to make about 12 family-friendly films a year that will be marketed under its FoxFaith film divison. The E-Commerce Times reports, "With budgets of less than US$5 million each, the films will be aimed at the same Christian audiences that helped boost box-office receipts for such films as 'The Passion of the Christ' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia.'
Some of the films will skip theaters and go straight to DVD but others could do well at the box office if Fox is able to tap into its church marketing network.
Clearly, Fox hopes to achieve some of the great marketing results they had from marketing films like The Passion of the Christ and The Chronicles of Narnia to churches. The article says Fox has built a marketing network of 90,000 churches. The FoxFaith website says to be part of FoxFaith a film has to have "an overt Christian Content or be derived from the work of a Christian author."
