AP Stylebook Officially Changes Web Site to Website

Posted on April 16, 2010

The AP Stylebook tweeted that "Web site" should now be written as "website." The AP says in its tweet, "Responding to reader input, we are changing Web site to website. This appears on Stylebook Online today and in the 2010 book next month."

We have been using the "website" version on our website for years. However, the change comes as a drastic shift for some writers. The change was also announced at the American Copy Editors Society conference. The AP Stylebook says the announcement drew cheers from the crowd. We are also cheering the change.
