A Weekly Poem - Read by the Author

Posted on August 11, 2004

Who says that poetry is a dead art form? No one at Slate, at any rate. Slate has a very interesting feature: each week a new poem is featured, and you can click on a link to hear the poem read by the author.

Ok, some of the authors are not the greatest speakers in the world. But it really is fascinating to hear how the poet wanted the poem read and where he places the emphasis. So many people write poetry, yet there are few places to get published and make money doing it.

This is an inspirational feature -- and Slate even takes submissions.
