Yen Press to Publish Interview With a Vampire Graphic Novel

Posted on July 22, 2011

Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced it has entered into an agreement with Anne Rice to create a graphic novel adaptation of her novel, Interview with the Vampire. Yen Press's adaptation will focus on the events of the novel through the eyes of the adolescent vampire Claudia. The graphic novel will be titled, Interview with the Vampire: Claudia's Story.

Ashley Marie Witter will write the graphic novel under Anne Rice's supervision. The graphic novel is slated for publication in Fall 2012.

Anne Rice said in a statement, "Words cannot express my excitement about working with Yen Press. Our project is an entirely new retelling of my first published work, Interview With the Vampire, narrated from the point of view of Claudia, the ancient vampire within an adolescent girl's body. Having already glimpsed early sketches of her, Louis, and my beloved Lestat, I'm amazed at how the characters have new life in rich color and gorgeous form. Moreover you'll see Claudia like you've never seen her before ... beautiful, savage, vulnerable ... This graphic novel is just lovely!"

Update: The graphic novel has been released and is available for purchase on Amazon.com.
