Jon Stewart's America Banned in Mississippi

Posted on January 11, 2005

The librarians in Mississippi are no fans of Jon Stewart, apparently. They have banned copies of America: The Book from all libraries in Mississippi because of its racy naked pictures of the Supreme Court Justices. The gag shows photoshopped naked pics of the justices and judicial robes, like paper dolls. Readers are asked to cut out the robes and restore the dignity of the justices.

Bestselling author John Grisham heartily congratulated Stewart on being banned; he said he was thrilled when his books were banned. Sales went up and he got a better deal on his next book contract.

America: The Book was named the Book of the Year by Publisher's Weekly and has been a #1 New York Times bestseller for 15 weeks.
