Former Barneys and New York Magazine Execs Join The UrbanBaby Network

In preparation for the 2000 launch of its network of sites and online store, The UrbanBaby Network has named Jennifer Blum, former Baby Buyer for Barneys New York, as Manager of Commerce, and Stephanie Saulmon, former Senior Producer for, as Senior Producer.

"Jennifer and Stephanie are distinguished talents and we are excited to have them join our management team," said Susan Maloney, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The UrbanBaby Network. "Their combined experience will contribute greatly to our ability to realize our vision of The UrbanBaby Network as the premier parenting resource for planning and raising a baby in some of the most dynamic cities in the U.S. and worldwide."

Blum had been with Barneys New York since 1997, responsible for buying for the layette, infant, toddler, accessory and toy departments. Prior to Barneys, she served as an associate buyer for J. Crew's retail division for two years and was responsible for maintaining inventory for 32 stores. Saulmon most recently served as Senior Producer for New York Magazine's online site, In addition to her daily column, "Stephanie's Surf Report," Saulmon edited the overall content and managed the redesign of the site. She also contributed articles to the print version of New York Magazine since 1997.

Based in New York City and privately held, The UrbanBaby Network is a collection of websites that offer local parenting resources dedicated to rearing and raising a baby in major U.S. and international cities. The UrbanBaby Network launched its first site in August,, providing free New York City-specific content and a community support system online for new and expectant parents.
