HarperCollins Launches New Imprint Called HarperElixir

HarperCollins' HarperOne is launching a new imprint in the mind, body and spirit category. The new imprint is called HarperElixir and will roll out its first slate of books in the fall of 2015.

Claudia Boutote will run the new imprint. Ms. Boutote is the Senior Vice President and Associate Publisher of HarperOne. Libby Edelson has moved from Ecco to be the Senior Editor of the new imprint. The first acquisition by the new imprint is a new book from Don Miguel Ruiz, who wrote the internationally bestselling book The Four Agreements. The name of the new book has not yet been announced.

In addition to the new Ruiz book, the imprint will also publish new books by Carol Pearson, bestselling author of The Hero Within and Arielle Ford, whose book The Soulmate Secret was an international bestseller. The new imprint will publish approximately 15 titles a year. HarperOne has been publishing books in this category for 37 years and the market continues to grow. Titles that cover spirituality, healing and the mind-body connection continue to sell well, as do general health titles -- especially those that are tied to new discoveries.

Mark Tauber, SVP and Publisher of HarperOne, talked about the category expansion saying, "Forming Elixir is an effort to zero in on a distinct category that has long been one of the cornerstones of our business. Body, Mind, Spirit books have been and continue to be a growing area in the U.S. and overseas, and we feel it is time to sharpen our focus" He praised Claudia Boutote noting that her experience, talent and "her personal passion" make her the perfect person to head up the imprint.

Ms. Boutote has a big challenge ahead of her, but she seems well up to the task. She said that the line will feature a curated list of book that will be perfect for readers who are seeking answers on a number of topics. The books will be published in both print and digital versions, although there may be some other digital initiatives down the line.

We have to say, we love the name of the new imprint. Elixir sounds like the Elixir of Life -- and who wouldn't want to learn a few tricks about how to find that?
