Gossip Columnist Jeannette Walls Joins MSNBC

Jeannette Walls has been named a new columnist for MSNBC on the Internet, it was announced by Merrill Brown, editor in chief. Walls, who previously wrote "Reality Check" for Esquire magazine and the "Intelligencer" column for New York magazine joins MSNBC as author of "Jeannette Walls Delivers the Scoop" where she will report on the insider news from the Hollywood hills to Capitol Hill.

"Jeannette's years of experience and her ability to get the inside scoop will prove to be an invaluable asset to the site," said Brown. "Her connections to the worlds of entertainment, media and politics combined with the technology behind MSNBC.com will allow our users to get the most up-to- the-minute news from behind-the-scenes. We are thrilled to have her on board." Walls' column will appear Monday through Thursday in the Quick News and Living*Travel sections on the site. Walls will also appear weekly on MSNBC cable.

Before joining MSNBC, Walls wrote the monthly column "Reality Check" for Esquire magazine from 1993 to 1997. Prior to that, Walls reported and wrote the "Intelligencer" column for New York magazine from 1987 to 1993. Her weekly items focused exclusively on the media and politics. From 1985 to 1987, Ms. Walls reported for USA Today where she covered business and finance. From 1981 to 1985, she worked for New York magazine in various capacities including writer and editor.
