Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced a 3 million copy first print run for Rick Riordan's The Blood of Olympus. The book is the fifth and final entry in Riordan's popular Heroes of Olympus series. The book will arrive in stores on October 7.

The Blood of Olympus opens with the Argo II crew attempting to stop Gaea and her giants, which have all risen. Gaea is planning to sacrifice two demigods in Athens. She has to be stopped before the Feast of Spies. The demigods are also having visions of a tremendous and deadly battle at Camp Half-Blood.

Riordan will embark on a multi-city tour for The Blood of Olympus starting October 7th. Details about the tour can be found here on Riordan's website.

The series has been incredibly popular. There are 40 million copies in print and the books have been translated into 37 languages. The first two books have been made into films starring Percy Jackson as Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth. It is not yet known if or when there will be a third film. The films are based on the novels, but Riordan says on his website that he has no control over the films and has not watched them.

Riordan has advised fans of the series to turn off social media until the book's release on October 7th to avoid spoilers. He tweeted, "Turning off social media until Oct. 7 to avoid BoO spoilers (real or fake). If you value your sanity, I suggest you do the same! See you!"
