Valerie Plame to Write Spy Novels With Mystery Author Sarah Lovett

Posted on March 30, 2011

The New York Times reports that Valerie Plame, a former covert C.I.A. spy, is going to write a series of suspense novels starring fictional operative Vanessa Pearson. The novels will be written with mystery author Sarah Lovett.

The New York Times says Valerie Plame is fed up with the popular images of female secret agents in popular culture. Plame also told the Times that the characters in spy novels "always tend to be cardboard characters."

Valerie Plame wrote a memoir, Fair Game, about being outed as a spy in a political scandal that become known as Plamegate. Plame's memoir, published in 2008, was made into a movie using the same name. In the film, Naomi Watts played Valerie Plame and Sean Penn played her husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson.
