MysteryNet Launches Learning with Mysteries Site

Posted on October 1, 1997

Teachers now have a new resource available on the Internet to make learning more fun: Learning with Mysteries. The Learning with Mysteries website includes information and resources for teachers of all grade levels, lesson plans for using mysteries in the classroom, and links to TheCase.com weekly Solve-it and Twist mini-mysteries.

The site is designed to be effective and easy to use for modem users as well as those with direct Internet connections. Graphics are limited, and pages are designed for printing to allow teachers to use the materials in the classroom. The website also includes information on using mysteries to develop higher levels of thinking as presented in Bloom's Taxonomy and web-based discussion.

"Students love mysteries -- they are a favorite of teachers and an ideal way to use the Internet in the classroom to help teach critical thinking, writing, and literature," according to best-selling author and president of the Mystery Writers of America, Joan Lowery Nixon. Steve Schaffer, president of Newfront, added, "Teachers are looking for creative ways to use the Internet in class. Learning with Mysteries and TheCase.com weekly mysteries provide a great resource for these teachers."
