Educational Publisher Launches The Know Zone

Posted on October 27, 1998

Addison Wesley Longman, (AWL) a leading educational publishers, will launch its new online learning center for mathematics. The Know Zone is an online learning service designed to help students with essential math skills, directly support their classroom work, and improve their performance on national and statewide-standardized tests. The Know Zone online program will target students in the critical earlier grades with coverage of fundamental math skills covered in grades 3-8.

In The Know Zone, students can select their specific grade level and chapter to practice their lessons at home or at school. Fun, game-like formats provide motivating ways to learn. Students can take practice tests that are correlated to their statewide standardized in a low-risk, low-tension environment.

The Know Zone starts with a CD-ROM that activates the web-based subscription, a safe environment that limits inappropriate surfing on the Internet. In the "ParentZone," parents can monitor their children's progress and use the refresher course to help them brush up on their own math skills, so they will be better prepared to assist their children. A similar area known as the "TeacherZone" is available in The Know Zone school edition.
