Simon and Schuster Launches Self-Publishing Service Called Archway Publishing

Simon & Schuster announced that it has launched a new self-publishing service called Archway Publishing. The service is in conjunction with Author Solutions, Inc., (ASI) which was recently bought by Pearson, a competitor of Simon and Schuster. The deal was in the works long before the recent acquisition, but Simon and Schuster decided to go along with it anyway. ASI, which is now part of Penguin Group, owns self-publishing brands Xlibris, iUniverse and Trafford.

Archway will focus on fiction, nonfiction, business and children's genres. Carolyn Reidy, president and CEO of Simon & Schuster, had this to say about the deal: "Through Archway Publishing, Simon & Schuster is pleased to be part of the rapidly expanding selfpublishing segment of our industry. Selfpublishing has become a viable and popular route to publication for many authors, and increasingly a source of content for traditional publishers, including Simon & Schuster. We’re excited that we'll be able to help more authors find their own path to publication and at the same time create a more direct connection to those self-published authors ready to make the leap to traditional publishing."

You can learn more about Archway Publishing at its website.
