Emmy award-winning screenwriter Don Payne has
died at the age of 48, according to the
L.A. Times. Payne is best known for his work as a writer and producer for
The Simpsons and for writing the screenplay for the hit movie
Thor. He also wrote the Thor sequel,
The Dark World, which has yet to be released.
Payne died from bone cancer, according to his friend and former writing partner,
John Frink. Frink says Payne died at home. He is survived by his wife and children.
Payne also wrote the screenplays for
My Super Ex-Girlfriend which starred Uma Thurman and
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. He won four Emmys for his work on
The Simpsons. He also won the Writers Guild of America's Paul Selvin Award in 2005 for the Simpson's episode called
"Fraudcast News."
