
The American Booksellers Association has announced the winners of the 2013 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards. The awards are voted on by independent booksellers nationwide. The Indies Choice award for Most Engaging Author was renamed the Indie Champion Award this year. Here is the list of winners:
- Adult Fiction Book of the Year: The Round House by Louise Erdrich (Harper)
- Adult Nonfiction Book of the Year: Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed (Knopf)
- Adult Debut Book of the Year: The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey (Little, Brown)
- Young Adult Book of the Year: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (Dutton Juvenile)
- E.B. White Read-Aloud Middle Reader: Wonder by R.J. Palacio (Knopf Books for Young Readers)
- E.B. White Read-Aloud Picture Book: Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett, Jon Klassen (Illus.) (Balzer + Bray)
- Indie Champion Award: John Green
American Booksellers Association CEO Oren Teicher said in a statement, "Once again this year, the owners and staff at ABA member stores across the country enthusiastically cast their ballots to choose the winners from an outstanding list of indie handselling favorites. We will salute these winners and honor award recipients at the Celebration of Bookselling and Author Awards Lunch on May 30 at BookExpo America, and invite two booksellers from each ABA member store to join us."
