University writing centers can be useful resources for writers. Some of them are free and they are loaded with articles, how-to advice and links to additional resources. The writing center websites we mentioned below all contain articles and resources that offer advice on grammar, style and more. We have highlighted a few of them and provided an alphabetical list of centers below.

Purdue OWL: The Purdue OWL is the best known of the university writing centers. It has tons of advice in the form of articles, guides and videos about all types of writing.

Sweetland Writing Center: The Sweetland Center for Writing is located at the University of Michigan. Some of the online writing resources and handouts cover essay writing, thesis papers, grammar, common mistakes and more.

The Writing Center at UNC: UNC's Writing Center has a large collection of helpful articles about writing papers, citations, style, specific writing assignments and more. Click on the Tips & Tools section to get the online handouts. Some videos are also provided.

The Writing Center at University of Wisconsin-Madison: UW-Madison's Writing Center offers an online writer's handbook. The handbook provides guidance on creating different types of documents, such as literary analysis, proposals, research papers and resumes. It also includes grammar advice, information about writing process and structure, making revisions to your papers and more.

TAMU Writing Center: The Texas A&M Writing Center includes a large collection of hundreds of writing guides covering academic writing, creative writing, presentations, grammar, punctuation, citing, professional writing and more.

UF Writing Studio: The University of Florida Writing Center is now known as the UF Writing Studio. Some of the online writing resources include citation guides, resume writing tips, grammar videos and more.

George Mason University Writing Center: The GMU Writing Center offers some quick guides covering a variety of writing skills, tasks and processes.
