ZOOM Website Launches as Companion to PBS Children's Series

Posted on January 5, 1999

ZOOM, one of public television's most watched children's shows of the '70s, has launched a new website to coincide with the premiere of the new television series. It is an elaborate site for kids with over twenty interactive features, and nearly thirty Shockwave* movies and 100 separate areas updated every week with content submitted by kids.

Like the television show, the companion site is fed and updated constantly with cool content from kids. The ZOOM website is a natural extension of the series' mission: to gather interesting ideas from kids, provide a forum for them to voice their opinions and express their creativity, and to publish the results. In addition to providing kids with directions for activities on the show and information about the cast, it gives them an opportunity to form a virtual community with other ZOOM viewers.

PBS Online, PBS's award-winning site on the World Wide Web, produces high-quality Web programming as it pioneers the convergence of television and the Internet. PBS ONLINE features more than 50,000 pages of content as well as companion websites for nearly 300 PBS programs and specials.
