Ziff Davis Media Inc. has announced the launch of Gaming Industry News (GIN), a monthly newsletter. Gaming Industry News will feature up to-date news, inside analysis, business and technology trends, opinions and commentary on the business of electronic videogames. GIN will become part of Ziff Davis Media's Game Group, which is based in San Francisco, California.

GIN, a fee-based newsletter, will cost $995 for an annual subscription. The newsletter will target subscribers in the videogame and interactive entertainment industries, licensing and financial sectors.

"Gaming Industry News provides essential b-to-b news, insight and research about the electronic gaming and interactive industries, and we're excited to add it to our portfolio of consumer video and PC game publications," said Dale Strang, executive vice president of Ziff Davis Media's Game Group. "The sector needs a focused publication covering issues facing the industry and we're confident that we have the resources to make that vision real."

Jimmy Guterman, with more than 20 years of experience in technology journalism, was tapped to serve as Editor-in-Chief. Mr. Guterman has extensive experience running newsletters, having edited Media Grok for The Industry Standard and published Media Unspun, its venture-backed successor. He has written and edited for more than 100 periodicals including The Boston Globe and Fortune. He was also founder and president of The Vineyard Group, a media consultancy. Mr. Guterman, who returns to Ziff Davis Media, began his career at eWEEK, the "enterprise newsweekly."

"Ziff Davis Media is the number one electronic videogame publisher and one of the most influential players in the market today," said Jimmy Guterman. "I'm excited to be working with a talented group of editors to continue the editorial quality that Ziff Davis brings to the market."
