Weekly Reader Books Popular at QVC

Posted on November 19, 1997

In time for holiday gift-giving, QVC eclipsed its merchandising goal by selling more than 1 million books, representing 77,000 Weekly Reader book sets, in one day, WEDNESDAY, Nov. 12, 1997. For each book set that was sold, QVC, Weekly Reader Books and OK, Inc. donated a portion of the proceeds to the National Center for Family Literacy and to the Chester County Literacy Coalition.

"We're heartened that the importance of quality children's literature is so valued by the QVC customer," said Fritz Luecke, Editorial Director and Vice President, Weekly Reader Book Club. "We also value our association with QVC because its nationwide presence spreads the `written word' to millions of parents and children who are part of its audience."

Weekly Reader Book Club is the oldest children's book club in America. The 13-book 1997 Editor's Choice collection presents best-selling children's books such as Lovable Lyle, Curious George Gets a Medal, Spot's First Picnic, Harry and the Lady Next Door and If the Dinosaurs Came Back. The collection is sold exclusively on QVC.
