Posted on February 23, 2005

A Turkish thriller novel called Metal Storm describes a war against the United States and its Nato allies. The novel captures Turks' fears that the Iraq War could lead to instability in Turkey's Kurdish region. The fictional war begins in 2007 after U.S. troops fire on Turkish troops in Northern Iraq. This leads to U.S. tanks invading Turkey and a suicide bomber detonating a nuclear bomb in Wasington D.C. out of revenge.

The novel is called Metal Fırtına in Turkish. It is written by Orkun Ucar and Burak Turna. The Associated Press reports that the novel has already sold over 100,000 copies in just two months.
