Tribune-Review Publishing Acquires North Hills News Record and Valley News Dispatch

Posted on December 2, 1997

The Tribune-Review Publishing Company has announced an agreement to acquire two newspaper properties from Gannett Publishing Co., Inc. The North Hills News Record and the Valley News Dispatch, both of which publish evening and Sunday newspapers, join the growing list of newspapers owned by the Tribune-Review Publishing Company.

Effective immediately, the newspapers will become subsidiaries of the Company, and Larry Jock, formerly publisher of the Valley News Dispatch, will serve as general manager of both publications. The purchase includes a long-term agreement under which the regional editions of USA Today and Baseball Weekly will be printed at the Company's NewsWorks production center.

"Joining the Tribune-Review family of newspapers is very positive for both the Valley News Dispatch and the North Hills News Record," said Larry Jock, General Manager of the two newspapers. "The Tribune-Review is very committed to western Pennsylvania, evidenced by their new production facility in Marshall Township and their purchases of newspapers in Connellsville, Monessen, and Kittanning. More importantly, Dick Scaife and Ed Harrell are both very interested in the long-term circulation growth of their newspapers, which bodes well for both our employees and our readers in the Valley and the North Hills."
