Tribune Education Acquires Shortland Publications

Tribune Education has acquired Shortland Publications Limited, a New Zealand-based company that publishes reading/language arts, science and social studies materials for the elementary school markets in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and some Asian countries. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

"Shortland is an excellent addition to Tribune Education," said Robert D. Bosau, Tribune Education president. "This acquisition increases our international presence, enhances our product development capabilities and expands our product line with increased high-quality content."

Shortland consists of several separate entities including Shortland Publishing New Zealand and Lands End Publishing, both of which are headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand; Shortland USA, with headquarters in Denver, Colo.; and Kingscourt, a sales and marketing operation based in London, England.

Tribune Education is a publisher of supplemental education and core curriculum materials and is a leader in producing products and services for the school and consumer markets. In addition to The Wright Group, Tribune Education companies are Educational Publishing Corporation, Everyday Learning Corporation and NTC/Contemporary Publishing Company.
