TombTown Provides Virtual Cemetery for Halloween

Posted on October 7, 1997

The World Wide Web is haunted. That's the conclusion of the caretakers of TombTown, the Web's only 3-D interactive virtual reality cemetery. And just in time for Halloween. Throughout October, TombTown is hosting a month-long on-line game-and- prize-filled Halloween celebration culminating in an interactive, Web-based virtual reality festival on All Hallows' Eve.

This month only, the residents of TombTown -- who are some of the world's most famous living-impaired spooky people, including Edgar Allan Poe, Lon Chaney, Dracula, and Houdini -- join with Website visitors in virtual hide-and-seek, on- line games of skull -- er -- skill, 3-D "horror-scope" readings, enchantments, grave digging and other such digital high jinks.

Winners of the "Best Obituary of the Day" Contest receive 'virtual immortality' along with their own 3-D headstone in TombTown. Other prize-laden games include Tombtown Trivia where all the answers are found in and around the special once-per-year Halloween edition of TombTown.

TombTown is a product of Terraformers, Builders of Virtual Worlds. Located near Santa Cruz, Calif., Terraformers is a leading provider of commercial, educational and entertainment 3-D, interactive Web sites and content.
