Tino Geddes Writes Sports Column For Sun-Sentinel
Posted on March 25, 1998
Tino Geddes, a veteran Jamaican print and broadcast journalist, is now writing a weekly sports column for the South Florida-based Sun-Sentinel. The column -- Sports of The Caribbean -- focuses on sporting events in the Caribbean and events of interest to those in South Florida who have a Caribbean background.
"My column is a reflection of what's happening in the Caribbean and around the world where people are participating in sports," Geddes said. "Our goal is to get information out to the West Indian community as quickly as possible."
The column, which debuted on March 22 and will appear every Sunday in the Sun-Sentinel sports section, is the first of its kind in South Florida.
"People are starved for up-to-date sports information about the Caribbean," said Geddes, who will be writing about cricket, soccer, boxing, track and field and netball, as well as other sports.
Dan Norman, Sun-Sentinel deputy managing editor for sports/features said Geddes' column will give the newspaper one more way to meet the information needs of the growing South Florida Caribbean community. Norman said that Geddes is a perfect choice to write the column because of his extensive background in sports journalism.
