Times Mirror Magazines Acquires InterZine Productions

Times Mirror Magazines announced the acquisition of InterZine Productions, Inc. InterZine is an online media and marketing company that produces targeted interactive sports communities and information services on the Internet and America Online.

InterZine, founded in 1994, has developed a number of award-winning online sports communities including: iGOLF, iSKI, SOL/Snowboarding Online iBIKE, iRACE and the daily trade newsletter The Sports Business Daily.

Times Mirror Magazines president and CEO Efrem Zimbalist III, says in a statement, "It is not often that you can find a company like InterZine which has developed state of the art internet products which fit so strategically with our own brands. Our goal is to be the leading site in the markets we serve in addition to becoming the premier enthusiast site for general marketers in the world."

InterZine and Times Mirror Magazines online products will be operated as a single interactive division and will be very closely aligned with Times Mirror's magazines in each of the markets they serve.

Michael Dubester, currently president of The Sporting News Online, will be the president of the new interactive division responsible for all online products and will report to Scott Kabak. Mr. Henley will be working closely with Mr. Dubester on interactive products and strategy in Mr. Henley's new role as Executive Director, Interactive Media.
