Stephen King's Casting Wishlist for The Stand

Posted on February 4, 2011

Stephen King penned an article for Entertainment Weekly titled "Ten Things I Know About the Remake of The Stand." In the piece, King reveals who he wants his boss to cast in the lead roles.

King writes, "1. No one will be able to top Gary Sinise, who played Stu Redman in the original ABC miniseries. He was perfect. When he says "You don't know nothing" to the soldiers who are putting him under mandatory quarantine, you believe his contempt completely. My runner-up pick would be Jake Gyllenhaal."

Sinise was great in The Stand mini-series as were Rob Lowe and Bill Fagerbakke.

King said he didn't even know about the Warner Bros remake of the film until he read about it on the Internet. He says that it really won't make a two hour movie. He thinks it would do better as a trilogy. As for the Trashcan Man -- King things that Billy Bob Thornton would be perfect.
