Source Interlink Media Closes 12 Magazines and Changes Name

Posted on June 2, 2014

Source Interlink Media has closed 12 print magazines and cut staff. Some of the shuttered titles include Popular Hot Rodding, Custom Classic Trucks and Rod & Custom. The company is also changing its name to TEN: The Enthusiast Network.

One of the main reasons for the name change is to separate itself from Source Interlink Distribution. The New York Times reports that Source Interlink Distribution was the second biggest U.S. magazine wholesaler until Time Inc. stopped using it to distribute its titles last week. Now the company, which employees 6,000 workers, is going to cease operations.

TEN ceo Scott Dickey told Ad Age that the Source Interlink distribution company is a separate company with a separate management team. Source Interlink, the magazine publisher, will continue on as a smaller, but independent, company with less titles following its restructuring. Folio has a list of the closed titles here. Folio says production is being centralized in the company's Los Angeles office.
