SonicNet announced that it has launched on America Online as an anchor tenant on AOL's Music Channel (keyword: SonicNet). SonicNet will receive placement on AOL's Music Channel giving AOL's members access to SonicNet's music news, album reviews, and audio and video programming.
To inaugurate the launch, SonicNet will produce a series of events, including an exclusive contest with Elektra Recording Artist Busta Rhymes. With a string of platinum releases in his past, Busta's newest recording, E.L.E, will be released on December 15th. The contest, presented in conjunction with Elektra Entertainment, will enable AOL members the first opportunity to win tickets to a pre-selected Busta Rhymes appearance, including airfare, accommodations, and spending money. Additionally, SonicNet will present a "Best of '98" series throughout the month of December, highlighting SonicNet's artist-driven events and cybercasts.
"We think we've got the best music content on the Internet, and now we intend to have the best music channel on AOL," said Nicholas Butterworth, SonicNet's President and Editor-In-Chief. "That's a pretty high standard, but SonicNet has always been the leader, and we believe we have a lot to offer AOL members."
SonicNet's original content includes daily music news, album reviews, Website reviews, artist interviews, artist chats, live concert broadcasts, and music video and audio programming. Additionally, SonicNet provides links to a database of online music resources with more than 50,000 URLs covering artist sites, record label sites, fan pages, music magazines, concert information, retailers, and others.
