Sidewalk for Washington D.C. Launches

Posted on November 20, 1997

The Washington Sidewalk city guide, published by Microsoft Corp, is now available on sidewalk.com. The Sidewalk team of editors tracks down hundreds of events every day in the Washington area.

Sidewalk research shows that most people have less free time and more entertainment options than ever. At the end of a long workday or week, many residents find it challenging to sort through the array of entertainment options and motivate themselves to try new things. "Sidewalk is designed to be your virtual adviser, matching your tastes and interests with the best Washington and the surrounding suburbs have to offer," said Sandy Flickner, executive producer, Washington Sidewalk.

The site lets you customize the information so it's easy to find the things you are interested in. Washington Sidewalk covers everything from concerts and movies to restaurants and sporting events, with previews, reviews and personalized recommendations about what's happening every day. "We even go one step further to make sure you don't miss the events you care about most," Flickner said. "You can ask Sidewalk to be on the lookout for a favorite performer or event, and it will notify you via e-mail when tickets go on sale."

Update: The Sidewalk site is no longer available.
