Roger Oglesby Named President of Times Orange County Edition

Roger Oglesby has been named president of the Los Angeles Times' Orange County Edition and a vice president of The Times, effective March 1. For the past two years Oglesby has been editor and vice president of The Morning Call, the Times Mirror newspaper in Allentown, Pa.

As president of the Times Orange County, Oglesby will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of all departments. He will report to Bob Magnuson, The Times' senior vice president, regional editions, whom he replaces as president of the Orange County Edition.

Oglesby, 49, has been with the Times Mirror Co., parent company of The Times, for 12 years. He joined the Los Angeles Times in 1986 as assistant city editor of the Orange County Edition. A lawyer, he also served as an assistant general counsel of The Times.

He was promoted to assistant to the publisher of The Times in 1993 and in 1994 was named to the additional post of president and chief executive officer of California Community Newspapers (CCN), a Times Mirror subsidiary that publishes daily and weekly community newspapers in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
