Rockabilly Music Hall of Fame Opens Doors

Posted on October 21, 1997

The WWW Rockabilly Hall of Fame is more than just a nostalgic pit stop. Sure you will find over 5,000 original artists, their songs and photos posted, but rockabilly music lives beyond 1959 through the numerous exciting new artists that have popped up in the seventies, eighties and nineties. Remember the buzz when Brian Setzer & The Stray Cats hit the scene. That was rockabilly reborn.

The site has a large reference department, listings for current performances and concerts, how and where to discover old and new rockabilly tunes and compilation CDs. Radio stations (like WGN, Chicago) are participating, as well as the fans and artists themselves. The web site's mail box is often crowded with new and old CDs and vinyl, crying to be heard and publicized. E-mails are coming in from rockabilly fans throughout the world. Guy Gilchrist (who draws the Nancy comic strip for 390 newspapers) has come aboard to contribute his talents as a writer and artist.

Rockabilly fans are encouraged to subscribe to the Internet's Rockabilly Discussion Group, over 200 members world-wide. To subscribe send a message to majordomo@teleport.com with subscribe rockabilly-l in the message body and no subject.
