Posted on July 16, 1997

Rock & Dirt has launched a new website Located at rockanddirt.com, the web site combines market value information with classified advertising for heavy construction equipment in a searchable online format. Features on the Rock & Dirt site include the Product Index, Iron Net (a database of heavy equipment for sale), worldwide auction results from The Last Bid® and an extensive Auction Calendar.

"We're very excited about Rock & Dirt online and our other upcoming internet ventures," says Mike Stone, publisher of Rock & Dirt and a partner with TAP Publishing Company, parent of the new web site. "We see the internet as a vital part of today's classified industry and we're excited about presenting our advertisers to a vast new audience. The initial response from our subscribers has been very positive."

With the Product Index users can search companies for specific items, and link to other sites or company information pages. Users can also search for products via Iron Net, with the option of making a search as general or specific as they wish. The Auction Calendar provides a chronological listing of construction equipment auctions across the country. The latest auction results can be accessed through The Last Bid,® a subscription auction service.

The web site is updated simultaneously with the print publication of Rock & Dirt, so construction contractors and managers, both domestic and international, will always access the most current ad placements. The Automatic Search Agent stores a user's search criteria for a piece of equipment they are interested in, then instantly sends notification via e-mail when a published advertisement meets these criteria.

Rock & Dirt is published by TAP Publishing Company, a leader in niche classified newspaper publishing since 1937, located in Crossville, Tennessee. Other TAP publications include Trade-A-Plane, Rock & Dirt en Español, Tradequip and Amateur Radio Trader.
