Robin Raskin Named Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Family PC

Posted on October 17, 1997

Ziff-Davis and The Walt Disney Publishing Company today announced the promotion of Robin Raskin to publisher of FamilyPC. Raskin, who will remain the magazine's editor-in-chief, will take on the additional responsibilities previously handled by Barry Briggs, who has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing at ZDNet.

Claude Sheer, president of ZD Publishing, said, "Robin is a brilliant editor-in-chief. The standards she has set for journalistic ethics -- first at PC Magazine and now at FamilyPC -- are well known. She is also a highly respected industry analyst whose influence has shaped the current consumer PC market. Her expanded role will allow FamilyPC to take advantage of this unique blend of talents and perspective."

Raskin said, "I've watched computers move from the realm of hackers and hobbyists to become a national habit. Concurrently, FamilyPC has grown from a dream into a reality. It gives me great pleasure to have an even greater role now in proliferating my vision of today's technology-savvy family to the widest possible community."
