Robert DeMarzo Named Publisher of VARBusiness Magazine

Posted on October 14, 1998

Robert C. DeMarzo was named publisher of CMP Media's VARBusiness. He had been the magazine's editor-in-chief since June 1997. DeMarzo succeeds Leslie Jeffery who recently was named publishing director for CMP Channel Group sales.

"Few people have as great an understanding of the channel as Bob does," said John Russell, vice president/group publisher of CMP's Channel Group. "His unique perspective of the relationships among vendors, distributors and resellers, gained during 15 years of covering the market, provides him with the insights needed to make VARBusiness an even more v aluable resource for channel members."

DeMarzo, who joined CMP Media in 1983 as an assistant editor of Computer Reseller News, served in numerous editorial positions at the technology newspaper on his way to becoming its editor in 1994. In that position, he worked closely with Editor-in-Chief Robert Faletra in shaping the newspaper's direction for several years before his VARBusiness assignment. For a four-year interim period starting in 1986, he held posts at CMP's Manufacturing Week, Communications Week and Macintosh News. Before joining CMP, he was a newspaper reporter.

Succeeding DeMarzo as editor is Mark Kindley who has served as the magazine's executive editor/features since 1997. Kindley joined VARBusiness in 1989 as a senior editor following a freelance career that included writing for Associated Press, Smithsonian and several trade and consumer articles.
