Publishers of Government Computer News and Newsbytes Announced

Post-Newsweek Business Information Inc. (PNBI), a unit of The Washington Post Company, announced the appointment of Frank Quigley as publisher of Government Computer News, GCN State & Local and GCN Shopper, and Christine Vestal as publisher of Newsbytes® News Network. Vestal also was named coordinator of PNBI Web strategy.

Quigley held senior positions with Ziff-Davis Publishing Co.'s Business Media Group for six years, including publisher of Windows Sources Magazine and eastern advertising director of PC Magazine.

"Government Computer News is both the pioneer and the leader in publishing technology newspapers for federal, state and local governments and for companies that serve the government marketplace," said Quigley. "With the support of the Washington Post and Newsweek resources, I will continue to expand the branding of GCN expertise and market visibility to new products and services."

Vestal was vice president and group publisher of Capitol Publications Inc., a major newsletter publisher and a subsidiary of the Financial Times. Her 11 years with Capitol included developing new products, particularly as related to research and online publishing. Most recently, she implemented a global program of new Financial Times brand and vertical market product lines.

Post-Newsweek Business Information Inc. (PNBI), is a technology- focused business unit of The Washington Post Company, is based in Vienna, Va., with offices in Silver Spring, Md., and Newton, Ma. The company was formed from a merger of assets of TechNews Inc., a Post Company subsidiary, with acquisitions from Reed Elsevier Inc.

TechNews publications that became part of PNBI include Washington Technology, Integration Management, TechCapital and Technology Almanac. PNBI also acquired Newsbytes News Network.
