Posted on July 6, 1998

James A. Warner, president of the PriMedia Magazine Group announced that David Cohen, 52, has been named vice president of New Media for the PriMedia Magazine Group. He replaces Larry Phillips, who was promoted in April 1998 to managing director of PriMedia Ventures, a fund which invests in early-stage Internet companies and other technology opportunities. Cohen is the former director of new media for Better Homes and Gardens magazine, Ladies' Home Journal magazine and Family Money magazine.

"David is a pioneer in the new media industry, in addition to being a skilled marketing executive," said Warner. "Since 1993, PriMedia has developed over 100 Web sites, which are used for electronic commerce, advertising sales, information dissemination, online testing and internal administration. David will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of all new media endeavors in the PriMedia Magazine Group. I look forward to the expertise and insight that he will bring to PriMedia."

Cohen was with the Meredith Corporation since 1975, when he worked in sales for Better Homes and Gardens special interest publications, and then soon became publisher. While with Meredith, he was part of a group which launched Country Home magazine, Wood magazine, Traditional Home magazine and Midwest Living magazine.

In 1996, Cohen started the Better Homes and Gardens new media group and after nine months brought the magazine online. The following year he brought Ladies' Home Journal online with a multimedia site which has won raves throughout the industry. He also launched the website for Family Money magazine, which was the first Meredith magazine to start a website on the same day as its print launch.
