Primedia Appoints Linda Platzner as New Publisher of Seventeen

Posted on December 28, 1999

David Tanzer, president and chief executive officer of Primedia Consumer Magazines, has announced the appointment of Linda Platzner, 42, as publisher of Seventeen magazine. Platzner joined Primedia in October as group publisher/vice president of the Primedia Youth Entertainment Group and previously was group publisher of Petersen's Teen magazine and All About You magazine. She succeeds Lori Burgess, who left Primedia in November.

According to Tanzer, "Linda is a proven integrated marketer whose charge will be to leverage Seventeen's powerful position in the teen market to deliver big picture marketing programs that will take advantage of Seventeen and Primedia's other teen properties which together reach 90 percent of female teenagers and 75 percent of all teenagers."

Before joining Petersen in 1997, Platzner was the associate publisher at Primedia's Modern Bride where she was responsible for expanding the core brand with products that included Your Prom magazine.
