Portland's KOIN-TV Launches 24-Hour News Site

KOIN-TV of Portland and Internet Broadcasting System (IBS) of Edina, MN officially launched Channel 6000 today. Channel 6000 provides Internet users complete news, weather, sports and entertainment for everyone in the Portland area.

A specially trained staff of journalists located in the KOIN-TV newsroom, continually update the site, bringing viewers the latest information on breaking news stories, weather forecasts, traffic, event information and more. Channel 6000 utilizes the resources of the entire KOIN-TV community, including footage from NewsChopper 6, listings of the Community Calendar, information on Teacher of the Month, Project Happy Holidays and other special events.

IBS is based in Edina, Minnesota and is co-owned by George Johnson and Reid Johnson (no relation.) IBS was incorporated in January, 1997, from an outgrowth of Alpha Video and Audio, which the Johnsons purchased in 1989. Seeing the future of the Internet for communication, Reid and George combined Alphas expertise in desktop video and interactive digital information, with a team of reporters, writers, producers and graphic designers for work on the Internet.

IBS specializes in developing web sites for television stations nationwide. IBS currently owns and operates Channel 4000 in Minnesota in conjunction with WCCO-TV and Radio and Channel 2000 in Los Angeles with KCBS2-TV.
