Popularity of Online Community for Mothers Grows

Posted on May 11, 1998

Moms Refuge, created through the grassroots efforts of a collective of working mothers in response to their needs for a supportive community, has become a popular online gathering spot. Thousands of mothers visit the Moms Refuge Web site, subscribe to the e-mail newsletters, and participate in the discussion lists.

Founder and producer, Kim Foglia, designed the Moms Refuge community to be both a celebration of the working mother as well as a refuge for her. Here working moms can ease the pressures and the responsibilities of juggling home, work and family, as well as to celebrate their triumphs.

Kim Foglia says, "The aggregate wisdom of this many mothers is an incredible resource. There's always someone here who is going through the same thing as you. You never have to feel alone. Moms' Refuge is the 21st Century version of 'Dear Abby' -- instead of the 'expert' giving advice from a pedestal, you have a community of mothers supporting each other."
