Planet City Announces New Website
Posted on July 10, 1997
Planet City opened the doors to its Website community in an Independence Day celebration that included a salute to the basic elements that make our country great: neighbors, hometowns and a $1,000-grand-prize photograph and essay contest called "My Hometown: The Best City on the Planet." The contest, which continues through Sept. 30, asks people to tell how their city has positively affected their Body, Mind, Spirit and/or Lifestyle in a 500-word essay and one to three photographs.
Colin Karsten, CEO of Planet City, says about the new site, "We believe that our neighbors and all the things that make up a hometown have a positive power over our lives. Our communities help shape and mold us, and can even heal us."
With graphics designed by Planet City Graphics and innovative business applications through IBM Net.Commerce, Planet City is building a community on the foundation of bringing people the best products and services to enhance their body, mind, spirit and lifestyle.
The site allows retail companies to sell and advertise their products in this positive atmosphere, and offers Network Marketing companies the added advantage of creating a virtual office for their distributors to build and manage their home-based businesses Online. Planet City and its tenants give back to their real-world communities by distributing a portion of their profits to its charitable arm, Planet Hope, which brings funding to the world's non-profit organizations and builds a Web presence for them.
Note: The site is no longer available.
