Peter Beckenbach Named Publisher of Yachting Magazine

Peter Beckenbach, 41, has been named the new publisher of Yachting Magazine announces Rich Alfano, President of Yachting and Salt Water Sportsman, published by Times Mirror Magazines. "Peter's strong background in both the marine endemic and general advertising categories will help us take Yachting Magazine to the next level and continue our recent success," says Alfano.

Beckenbach has an extensive background in both the marine and publishing fields. Most recently he ran his own business, The Beckenbach Network, which has been associated with Yachting for nearly a year and helped represent the magazine in financial, computer and auto fields on the East Coast.

"I am honored to be part of such a prestigious publication," Beckenbach said. "The magazine has been positioned as the authority of the boating world by its current management team. I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a class group of editors and sales professionals who understand the challenges of this dynamic market."

Beckenbach served as the ad director of Boating magazine from 1987-1990 before serving as vice president of network sales for Hachette Filipacchi Magazines for three years. He has also helped start up periodicals such as Home P.C. Magazine, Personal Computer Magazine, Windows Sources Magazine and most recently Maximum P.C. Magazine. Beckenbach was also a marketing consultant on the launch of PointCast, an internet news service.

Linda Lindquist, former publisher of Yachting is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. "We thank Linda for her huge contribution to the magazine and wish her well on her future endeavors," says Alfano.
