PennWell Acquires Potencia Magazine

Posted on April 9, 1999

PennWell, a global media company, has purchased Potencia Magazine from ITP, Inc., Miami, Florida. Potencia, a leading Spanish language magazine published six times a year, covers the Latin American power industry.

"The acquisition of Potencia marks another significant step in our expanded activities in the growing Latin America market," stated Jim Pfister, PennWell executive vice president. "It also fits extremely well with our coverage of the worldwide power and energy industries. As the markets served by these industries continue to converge, it is increasingly apparent that decision-makers need the most current information possible to keep up with rapidly changing markets and market conditions."

"Ana Maria Yumiseva will continue to serve as editor of Potencia and will continue to be based in Miami. However, Rich Baker at PennWell's Tulsa headquarters will serve as publisher. It will become part of the power generation segment of PennWell's Global Energy Group," Pfister concluded.

In addition to Potencia, PennWell also publishes Oil & Gas Journal Latinoamerica and also conducts an annual Latin America Power conference and exhibition, and an annual Venezuela Oil & Gas industry summit and exhibition. Another Spanish language publication, Prevencion de la Contaminacion plays a significant role in PennWell's coverage of the worldwide water and waste management industries.
