David Tanzer, president and chief executive officer of Primedia Consumer Magazines, announced that Patrice Adcroft, 44, has been named editor in chief of Seventeen magazine. The magazine's previous editor, Meredith Berlin, was recently named development director of Primedia Consumer Magazines.

Adcroft has twenty years of magazine editorial experience, most recently serving as deputy editor of InStyle magazine. Prior, Adcroft served as editor in chief of two magazines, NetGuide and Omni, and as an editor at Good Housekeeping and Family Weekly.

"Patti is an enormously talented editor with a strong understanding of fashion and beauty and of Seventeen's importance as the leading voice for young women in this country," said Tanzer. "Seventeen is on a roll, having set records for both circulation and advertising in the last year, and Patti's golden touch will help make a great magazine even greater."
