Over 50 Million Blogs by Year End

A new study by Perseus estimates that there are current over 31.6 million hosted blogs. And if this is not enough blogs for you then just wait until the end of the year when Perseus estimates that there will be 53.4 million blogs. Perseus says 10 million of the blog were created in the first quarter of 2005. Perseus says that the top blog hosts are BlogSpot, LiveJournal and Xanga which all host at least 6 to 8 million blogs.

Persus found that MSN Spaces is also doing well with over 4.5 million hosted blogs. The study did not include social networking websites like MySpace.com, which allows blogging and has over 12 million accounts. Friendster.com, a similar service, recently added blogging and was not included in the study.
