Online Textbook Exchange Service Launches

Posted on July 10, 1998

A new online textbook exchange service for college students has made its debut on the Internet. The Textbook Cellar allows students to post their used textbooks and study material for sale on the World Wide Web. The database of books can be browsed and searched by interested book buyers.

The Textbook Cellar is advertiser-sponsored and all services offered by the site are free for users. As awareness and usage increase, The Textbook Cellar will also be printing magazines on individual campuses. These classified-style magazines will only contain books that are used on the campus that they're distributed. These books will be retrieved from the online database.

This site is the brainchild of U.S.F. marketing student Mitch Rossell. "I was simply fed up with the incredibly high prices that the bookstores were charging for used books. And to make it worse, they give you next to nothing for them at the end of the semester."
