NewsIndex Indexing Hundreds of News Publications Hourly
Posted on December 10, 1997
Founded in 1996, News Index is a search engine for current news reporting from around the world. The site indexes more than 150 publications every 1-2 hours, far exceeding the industry average of 4 hours or more. It is a source for current news -- not an archive. News Index is 100% focused on news and has no direct association with any of the news sources indexed. The service is free and includes an option for automated search results via e-mail.
"Every news outlet delivers their own version of a story," said Sean Peck, founder of News Index. "Only through reading many different versions of a story can you finally derive some semblance of what actually occurred. News Index enables people to gain a balanced perspective. Our motivation is quite simply to bring out the truth."
News Index indexes major news sources such as The London Times, Hong Kong Standard, Jerusalem Post, CNN, LA Times, NY Times and The Sidney Morning Herald, but also goes out of its way to include small independent publications like the Lancaster New Era and the Greensboro News Record.
